Based on a netsuke by Tokoku, slightly larger than the original, this small sculpture carved in holly, with various inlays of ivories, buffalo horn, and antler, the pot coloured with silver nitrate.
This octopus pot has broken free of the "string" and sits on the seabed, where it has become an artificial mini-reef for a variety of shellfish.
