The head of a loggerhead turtle, tossed into some dusty corner, all that remains of the tortoiseshell industry…a remnant of a dying art.

Boxwood, with eye inlay of black buffalo horn, stained with incense smoke. The smaller scales formed with a combination of carving and ukibori technique.
